The 2018 Season Begins

The 2017 season was a huge success as we saw mass improvements throughout our community. However, as many of you know, I am never satisfied with where we are and always striving to improve what we do. The five week Open was a fantastic assessment tool which ignited a massive fire in me to begin structuring our training program for 2018 and taking our box, and it’s athletes, to the next level.  Our focus will always be on functional fitness, but also implementing a program designed to enhance functional performance.

There are so many factors to consider and components to develop within CrossFit, but any quality program should start by building its foundation. Our program will begin with an 8 week training cycle combining strength and durability as its primary goals.  Emphasis being placed on the slow lifts: the Squat, Deadlift, and Press will allow us to become very strong and establish a base for our training throughout the 2018 season.

Begining Monday, here’s an example of what our weekly template may look like.

Day 1: ME Squat + Squat Accessory work + Core

Day 2: Gymanstic Skills + Conditioning

Day 3: Unilateral Strength + Pressing + Conditioning

Day 4: Active Rest

Day 5: RE Squat + Conditioning + Core

Day 6: Olympic Barbell Cycling + Conditioning

Day 7: Rest

There will be, and has to be, flexibility within our plan which may leave you wondering what training day we are on, but trust the process, your coaches, and be as excited as I am about the 2018 season! BIP
